Mehrauli, as described in various recorded chapters of Delhi history, is surely the oldest, continuously inhabited area of our glorious city of Delhi. Having been formed as a small fortified outpost of few villages, acting as the first line of defense against the Afghan & Mongol attackers in the late 8th century AD, it has seen the rise and fall of numerous dynasties & empires of Delhi.  Mehrauli is the site of a plethora of monuments, with historians claiming that nearly 250 buildings of architectural, historical & cultural importance dot this area.

You’re a “Gem”

Come out (and bring your family, friends, children, and pets) and honor the legacy of Jane Jacobs as we walk through some of the great Near Eastside neighborhoods. The route is around 2 miles, starting at the John H. Boner Center, and weaving through Woodruff Place and St. Clair Place. The theme, “You’re A Gem”, refers to the idea that everyone in your neighborhood and/or community has something special about them that can help improve the world around us.
